This article is to inform people how to vomit without making a big mess. When you have a hangover or ate something really bad, you don't want to view the contents of it.
Put a bowl or bucket, along with a towel or some tissues next to your bed. This way, you don't have to worry about racing to the toilet; especially if it's on the other side of the house.
Know that people can tell when they're about to vomit. There's a difference between feeling sick (in general) and knowing you're about to be. You'll feel a lot of saliva being produced and usually a "heaviness" in your throat.
Place your head over the toilet, but try not to tilt your head forward. Try to keep your head up and it'll make it easier on your chest.
Hold your nose shut with your index finger and thumb to prevent vomit coming out of your nose. If it does happen, it will burn and leave an unpleasant smell in your nose for a period of time.
Watch how long you're at the toilet for. If nothing comes out, take a few deep breaths.
Avoid drinking or eating anything directly after vomiting. You don't want to irritate your stomach any more. After a few minutes, try sipping water slowly (don't gulp it down) but lay off any stronger beverages or food for a few hours, even if you feel fine.
Attempt to get rid of the vomit and smell as soon as possible. You may want to flush the toilet more than once if you don't want to see the mess.
Use mouthwash or toothpaste to get the gunk and smell out of your mouth. Throw-up may contain food particles that would get trapped in your teeth. Do not, however, brush your teeth immediately after throwing up--the abrasiveness of the toothpaste and brush will wear away the stomach acid-softened surface of your teeth.
Tips
- Nobody likes being sick. It's not a nice sensation but it's usually harmless. It's just the body's way of getting rid of something that it doesn't like. Think of it as an emergency exit.
Warnings
- If you can't hold it until you get to a proper spot, do not hold it in your mouth. Anything coming from the stomach will be very acidic.
- A lot of people are sick after binge drinking. This is very dangerous and can really hurt your vital organs, especially your liver. If these organs are damaged a lot, you die. It's as simple as that.
- If you binge drink and are sick, it's most probably your own fault and you'd be ill-advised to look for sympathy. Remember you chose to do it so deal with it!
- If you don't want to be sick, don't binge drink!
- If you're puking because you're ill, you do deserve sympathy! Try and look worse than how you feel and you may get it.
