Tired of stopping at rest areas or public restrooms when you need to pee while on a road trip? Forget it! This applies mainly to males but females can utilize some of the principles.
Note that there are two main methods of non-restroom urination while on a road trip: Inside the Vehicle (IV), and Outside the Vehicle (OV).
Use a container. IV involves peeing into a container.
Get out of the car. Outside the vehicle involves actually exiting to pee.
Be very adept. In rare cases, these two methods can be combined if traveling in a van at relatively low speeds by opening the side door and peeing onto the shoulder of the road.
Tips
- Darkness greatly simplifies the outdoor urination process, but beware of headlights which can illuminate you. However, since you'll probably never see any of the drivers again, who cares?
- For males using the "open door technique" at night, pointing the stream directly at the ground rather than having it arch out, far away from the automobile, will avoid its sparkling in oncoming headlights and thus draw less attention.
- Always carry a wide-mouth plastic bottle for inside the vehicle. An apple juice bottle with a screw cap is ideal, as its mouth is sufficiently large and the contents will appear to match the label. Just be sure to empty it before someone attempts to drink it!
Warnings
- If utilizing method 2 above, and peeing from the open door of a van, be sure you are in the "slow" lane when peeing to the right side of the vehicle. If you attempt this from the passing lane and douse another vehicle, you may be reported to the police.
